It’s breaking everywhere, and thanks to “Soze” in comments for the heads-up. I think the M’s just upped their bottom line for this year, don’t you? They will come in droves to see the Kid in an M’s uni, one more time. As the MLB.com story says, the M’s are expecting 200,000 MORE people to come out to the ballpark this year.

I hear ya Longball. Let’s face it, it’s been a TOUGH year around here. Awful football team, hoops team not going anywhere, Seahawks fell on their face, Sonics are gone. We could use something, ANYTHING, to feel good about? Can’t wait to see the crowd on opening day. It might be something that we’ve never seen before.

Just heard Chuck Armstrong on KJR. He said today that WILLIE MAYS himself called Griffey today to talk about the importance of “going home” and cementing his legacy in Seattle. WOW. Amazing.

This is not only good news for us, its good news for Griffey.
This was his best chance to go home. If he bombs, he will go out in a place that loves him–and in the uniform he will be enshrined in.
If he stays healthy–which he would not have in the ATL–then he has the chance to relive the magic, change the clubhouse, and save Seattle sports all over again.
Good for Griff. FINALLY an athlete that makes a really good business AND personal decision at the same time

On the Sonics front there is a Bill in the State House of Representatives that might allow the City use a restaurant tax to cover the missing $75 needed to get the ball rolloing with Balmer and make Bennnett pay another $30. The Hornets are losing money hand over fist and the owners are facing a city that is throwing its money and support behind the Saints. Could we see C3p in a future Green and Gold?

There’s a damn good chance the Hornets will head west and become the Sonics. New Orleans has an agreement to pay (through state funding) the Hornets and the Saints to keep them in such a small market. I doubt either entity (the city or the state) has the money to dump into a sinking ship. The Saints will always win that battle. Bad form them, great news for Seattle.

I saw that bill today and I don’t know what to think about it. It’s promising that it’s even introduced, and it’s sponsored by a big player (Ross Hunter) who is in line with Chopp, who you have to get to sign off on anything/everything to pass. But we’ll see.

If anyone was as unfortunate as me today to hear Cowterd, he was ripping thise deal. Called out the Mariners for only doing this to sell tickets and calling Washington Sports fans dumb for not demanding that the sports teams be better. Man, I hate that blow hard. I agree that this is more for them to sell seats than anything, but it gives the fans here something to cheer about after a really bad year. He could be a good DH that they haven’t had since Edgar retired. I know the Mariners will probably still suck, but his signing as a DH won’t hurt, he is a big left handed bat and if he doesn’t have to play the field everyday, then he could really add something.

I would honestly have loved to have heard the Herd this morning… what were his suggestions as a replacement DH instead of Griffey? Probably not the best player available, but c’mon… I’m not going to Seattle to see Garrett Anderson play.

I listened to his comments on the Griffey signing on my way to work today as well. You know Cowherd…he doesn’t come back with a legitimate argument or alternative solution, he just ridicules. Classic. Just like how if a caller tries to debate with him, he just cuts them off and hangs up on them. This way, he’s never challenged and never has the potential to sound stupid. He ought to start spelling his name “Coward.” I really don’t know why I listen to his show anymore…the local clowns here in Portland are often better than he is.
